Title: Demystifying Advocacy – Being an Ambassador to Your Public Officials
Description: Join a panel of public officials and experienced land trust advocates for a frank conversation about how land trust leaders can develop and maintain effective relationships with elected officials and their staff at all levels of government. With growing threats to conservation funding and nonprofit tax exemptions, local land trust board members and staff like you can play an essential role as ambassadors to their elected officials. Lobbyists in Washington and Annapolis can tell them what the issues are, but only YOU can make them care. Delegate Dana Stein of Baltimore County will provide a state government voice on the panel and Senator Ben Cardin’s press secretary, Tim Zink, will discuss advocacy at the federal level. Come get an insider’s perspective and learn some easy steps to get started!
